Women's Self Defence Classes
Alone in the world, Wing Tsun Kung Fu is the only Martial Art in recorded history to have been created by a woman. Our system was developed for the purpose of defending ourselves against larger, stronger and more aggressive opponents making it ideal for anyone concerned about being over powered.
Because of the way our Kung Fu system works, by maximizing our efficiency and minimising risk to us, Wing Tsun has become one of the world's premiere Self Defence systems. Wing Tsun has gained particular favour in the last 30 years as women across the western world continue to take a more active role in their own destinies. Indeed the increase in the number of female police officers in the UK alone (which the Home Office states is 24% in 2008, a huge increase of 8% in just ten years) is just one thing that demonstrates just how women are becoming more confident and pro active. With this in mind the European Wing Tsun Organisation has put a lot of time and effort during its growth in Europe in seeking to grow its female membership, so our instructors are keen to develop women's independence in all aspects of life, from keeping fit to being more confident and assertive.
Unlike our mainstream Kung-Fu sessions these classes are designed to teach women how to deal with many aspects of being assaulted that may not come up so often in our regular classes. While all of the material we teach in these seminars is covered in our main Wing Tsun programme, it is spread out over a number of years. So we have taken time to fillet out and compile all of the most salient points into a series of themed workshops.
For example we show:
How to cope with being grabbed, in particular by the throat, neck and wrists, how to defend ourselves in potential rape situations, as well as select sections of our anti weapons, control and restraint programme, as well as the simple Self Defence system that Wing Tsun is famous for.
If you are uncomfortable with the idea of training in mixed classes or you are a part of a women's only club or group, why not take part in our Women's Self-Defence sessions: They are safe (we teach with the understanding that we are instructing Self Defence so we can keep the physical aspect to the bare minimum) we take care to adjust ourselves to our clients' sensibilities and we are always open, friendly and encouraging. Just ask your local instructor or email us on enquiries@wtmidlands.com for details about how to get involved in an existing seminar or how we can organise one for you.
